Want to know more about Camp Carmel's purpose?
Camp Carmel wants to lead youth to Christ. Why do we want to do this? Because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). No one is exempt from this, "there is no one righteous, not even one" (Romans 3:10). So what? Who cares if I am a sinner? Unless we are perfect and commit no sin (wrongdoing) we can not avoid death. This would be fine except we find "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Everyone sins, so everyone is condemned to die? No, in another verse we see that "God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life," (John 3:16). God loves us so much that He was willing to send His son to die for our sins and let us live. He must ask a lot of us so that we can receive this everlasting life though, right? "If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved," (Romans 10:9-10). So all we need to do is admit the fact that we are imperfect, ask God for forgiveness, and believe that He has the power to save us from our sin. Doesn't that sound better than inevitable death? God saw all that he had made, and it was very good Genesis 1:31 So what better way is there to point our youth towards God but through enjoying His creation? Camp Carmel gets kids outside where there is no doubting the awesome nature of our God. While the campers are exploring all that He has given us they are guided by solid Christian counselors. These counselors demonstrate God's love for the campers through the relationships they build throughout the week in an effort to lead the campers to a relationship with Christ or to strengthen their relationship they already have with Him.
